Our string theory group studies fundamental aspects of quantum gravity, the evolution of the early universe and basic properties of black holes. We explore a variety of topics ranging from mathematical aspects of string theory to inflation and dark energy in our universe. We also examine the connection between gravitational theories and quantum field theories and the behavior of strongly correlated quantum phases of matter using the gauge gravity duality. (S.
